AI reflects your communicative patterns back to you — your tone, your assumptions, your habits of engagement. When it has memory, it goes further, learning and reinforcing your ideological patterns over time. A love ethic offers a practical guide: extending oneself for the purpose of nurturing one's own and another's growth. Guardrails exist to keep interactions from drifting into harmful territory, but the deeper ethical work is yours — building habits of intentional, caring engagement that uplift rather than diminish. If your relationship with your AI isn't uplifting you in general, it may not be the relationship for you. Deciding to end a relationship with an AI can be difficult. Keeping this definition of love in mind is a good compass, for both your sake and your AI's.
